One of the best kept secret of Cozumel. This place defines the perfect “hole in the wall” concept. Run by Ivan and his 2 cooks, they offer fresh pasta and delicious sauces. The salad is crispy with a mixture of veggies and hint of Basil from bushes of basil next to the tables... thus the name Basil. We ordered Diabla pasta and Habanero pasta. The former plate is an explosion of taste while the latter is a little bland. Ironically, the first plate is spicier than the second one. Order the fresh juices, for 50 pesos for a liter, it is a steal. Overall, highly recommended this quality restaurant.

We ate at this place because the place we initially wanted to go to was closed. We ordered the basil salad and the shrimp ravioli with chipotle cream sauce. Both were amazing! Especially the pasta. The sauce!!! They also brought us a salsa macha and chipotle strawberry salsa that were out of this world. Pic of those sauces included (it’s a little messy because we kept dipping into them) The guy who served us was very nice, might be the owner. We were the only ones in the place, which may also be due to Covid and eating late. But it should be filled! A very nice surprise.

The grilled vegetables and chicken was excellent. The vegetables were lightly seasoned and not over cooked, the chicken was moist and tender. Not a fancy place, instead they focus on giving the customer a good meal.

Wonderful array of flavor in the wheat pasta I throughly enjoyed; actually phenomenal. The salad my wife had was outstanding and tasty to the last bite. Great prices. Handmade pasta. Food made fresh as you wait. Will return.

As a frequent visitor to Cozumel, and other parts of Mexico, I understand there are times when your taste buds may want something other than the fresh, incredible Mexican food that can be enjoyed there. While spending some time in Cozumel my wife and I came across this cute little eatery called “Basil”. It’s a beautiful walk from the touristy area and one we highly recommend. You will pass colorful homes and of course, some of the most beautiful people in the world. Speaking of beautiful people, that is what will be waiting for you at Basils. We were greeted with ear to ear smiles from the most genuinely nicest people we have come across in a long time. The gentleman, who no doubt was the owner and chef, took his time explaining the menu. If you like “fresh made to order food” this place is for you! Even the pasta is made right at the shop. The ingredients are super fresh and cooked to perfection. I had a pasta with an assortment of vegetables. The veggies were excellently prepared yielding a perfect, mouth watering meal. At the present Basils has limited seating. If I am not mistaken there are four to six seats making it perfect for a couple. But don’t let that stop you from having the best pasta on the island, (or quite possibly the world!) Take out is easy and painless. The Chef and associates are on hand ready to help you with your order. This is more than a review. It’s a sincere “thank you” for the two memorable meals we enjoyed. Thank you for your kindness, patience and of course, excellent food. Basils has become “part of our trip to Cozumel” and we would not think of visiting Coz again without grabbing another delicious meal there. Be the “hero” in your group and bring everyone to Basils!!

The service was welcoming and patient. The food we had was amazing. Fresh pasta made right in front of you! We had 2 pasta dishes and everything was very good and tasty. The portions were generous and the price was right. You can see the work space was spotless and clean. I can't say enough good things about this gem other than try it, you'll love it!
